This is my experience with my rat boys. A little bit of history, I typically use carefresh bedding for my rattos. I haven't had a URI with any of my boys since I lived with my parents in a terribly ventilated room. Since moving out into an apartment with my boyfriend and having them in a great area, not one of my six rats even sneezed. It's been a solid year now. When going to order carefresh this time around, this bedding came up as an Amazon Recommended product. I've always had great experience with products that Amazon recommends, so I decided to try it. I received this item on Tuesday, April 30th and it is now Friday May 3rd. Of my six rats, four have porphyrin around their noses and one is making terrible respiratory noises. If you are a rat parent, please please please don't get this item. It might be alright for other rodents, but not for rats. I'm picking up carefresh on the way home and I'm going to start treating my boys for URIs immediately, not to mention that I'm out $40 (as a college student this is a lot). I have seven years of rat experience under my belt and this affected my rats faster than any other situation I've put them in. I worked in a pet store and the rats in the glass boxes took longer to get URIs than this. Please don't buy this product. On the bright side, though, for others willing to try this product for other animals, super soft and absorbs odors well.
