No instruction at all...
This book has one page of "encouragement" and another page of tools, but to say that either of these is instruction is a vast overstatement. For example, on the tools page, under Pencils, it states "The easiest tool! Grab a mechanical pencil and you can letter anywhere." That's it. Nowhere in the book does it instruct you on actual lettering techniques.
The book has 29 pages of alphabet practice pages (like you did in school, a row of A's, a row of B's, etc.) using three different fonts. Then it has 23 pages where they have a word on the page (like "thanks") and three sections on each page, the word, trace the word, and write the word. For these 23 pages of one practice word per page, it uses all the same font.
In the back of the book, there are 16 pages of "projects": a phrase is written on the left-hand page, like "home sweet home", with some small design element. The facing right-hand page is blank for you to practice this one phrase.
A much more appropriate title for this book would have been "Lettering Practice" or "Lettering Workbook." It is NOT "Lettering for Beginners." But, if you're just looking for an entire book to practice three fonts, then this is the one for you.
