She’s like Kevin Trudeau in Cute Boots! But with waaaay more selfies.
Remember that dude? He sold us awesome books about natural cures “THEY” don’t want you to know about? And debt solutions “THEY” are trying to cover up? What a crusader, fighting for the little guy! Know what happened to that jabroni? He got busted as a complete fraud, went bankrupt, is currently incarcerated, and is widely considered a scumbag of epic proportion.
Following in that proud tradition comes the Food Babe: a computer science major who is fighting for us against the evil food corporations that are trying to poison us with their chemiKILLz. Widely panned by scientists for years as a pseudoscientific fear-mongerer, Vani has nevertheless carved a profitable niche for herself by misunderstanding basic chemistry and food science, proclaiming random compounds as toxic, then selling/promoting various “safe” foods on her website. And people eat it up (see what I did there?)
Think my comparison to Trudeau is unfair? Well, they share similar views, like the idea that sunscreen actually causes skin cancer. And this book’s whole premise is that big corporations are trying to cover up the truth: “THEY” don’t want you to know about it! Sound familiar? Beyond that, Vani’s book is filled with scientific falsehoods: from the dangers of GMOs to the benefits of organic foods to juice cleanses to foods that cause/cure cancer!
And the worst part is that I’m sure this book will sell well, misinforming thousands of people, just as Trudeau did. Take a look at some of the 5 star reviews here (or responses to 1 star reviews). See how many times you see them call anyone who dislikes this book a “shill for Big Pharma, or Big Agro, or Big Science”. As if we’re all on the payroll of some evil, shady corporation.
Man, how I wish I got paid for the time I spend trying to debunk this nonsense.
