This bike rack is not for highway travel. I purchased before making a 10 hour drive to Santa Fe and had numerous problems: straps slipping, straps coming loose, rack sliding down back of car, damaging side door, etc. After paying a bike shop to put on reeeeally well for drive home (in case this was user error)...same issue. I was constantly worried on the highway that it would fly off causing someone to wreck. It was extremely nerve racking and cost me over an hour with all the stops to try and re-tighten, fix, adjust. This was my first attempt at a bike rack that wasn’t fixed to a hitch. This did not work for me and my Jeep Cherokee at all. If I were just driving a couple of miles around town, I guess ok...but this bike rack is not sturdy or well made enough for highway travel.
