Buyer Beware- Bags Are Not Well-Made
I got this bag to use as my diaper bag before my child was born. I wanted a backpack because I intended on baby-wearing and knew it would be easier to distribute the load between both shoulders.
After I used it for 8 months, the stitching started coming undone on the bag. I have never machine-washed it and I don't abuse the bag as I intended this bag to be used for many years and hopefully for numerous children.
I contacted Ju Ju Be and explained the situation. They asked me to provide them with proof of purchase and a photo of the bag. Once I did, they told me that their policy is that nothing can be done after 90 days.
Here's my beef with this whole situation:
1) I paid $150 for a bag that started coming apart after 8 months of use.
2) Why make me waste time taking photos and digging up a receipt only to refer me to the policy of 'nothing can be done after 90 days'?
3) I think that most women purchase their diaper bags when they are pregnant, not after the baby has arrived. So a 90 day return policy means that no one can ever return anything because chances are, 90 days have elapsed before your baby arrives.
After a few days of back and forth and a number of emails, Ju Ju Be offered me a $20 gift card to their store. Thing is, I need a diaper bag, and I am not going to make the same mistake of purchasing another $150 bag (or $130 as it would be after the gift card) just to have to replace it again. I'm looking for a quality product, not to waste money and increase the amount of stuff in my local landfill.
I'm now leaning towards purchasing one of Osprey's Daylight Packs to use as a diaper bag because they offer the All Mighty Guarantee: Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in our product – whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday. If we are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, we will happily replace it. I've ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/Osprey-Daylite-Daypacks-Canyon-Orange/dp/B00MN4R79I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1431103945&sr=8-2&keywords=osprey+daylite+pack and will provide an update to how it compares after I've used it for a few days.
Sorry about the long review, but I wanted others to at least be aware of what I was not aware of prior to spending a lot of money on a product with no warranty.
