If you're looking for a sign whether you should buy these or not - this is it! DO NOT PURCHASE THESE! It was unimaginably bad!!! I've had the QC 25's for several years and use them in my home office to block out my neighbor noises. These QC 35's are basically like having your loud neighbors shouting in your ears! No matter what I did the talking wouldn't stop. The moment I opened the box I was excited to use them and get some work done but unfortunately the voice kept telling me I HAD to download the app and would not stop repeating every 60 seconds until the app was installed. I called Bose support and their suggestion was to turn off the headphones then turn them back on....voice still there. Also what kind of a suggestion is that? I also brought up the fact that the Bose rep here on amazon said you didn't need the app to use it, so why would it not let me use the headphones without the app? They say that is incorrect, you do NEED to install the app (clearly, unless you want the voice yelling at you to install it). Ok fine, i'll install another unnecessary app on my phone. After spending so long with bose support and installing the app, my battery was drained, so I plugged my phone into charge, then sat down to get some work done. The talking started again! The voice said it could not register the connection to my phone. My phone was too far away. All I wanted was noise cancellation, I wasn't trying to play music or do literally anything, just sit there in silence with noise cancellation and type on my computer and it would not let me. After that I had enough, I reboxed the headphones and sent them right back. I was excited to go wireless but it's not worth it when the item is not easily usable. I don't want to have my phone on and next to me every time I want to use these headphones. I travel a lot. Am I expected to keep my phone on during a 15 hour flight? IN SUM: These headphones are ONLY usable with the app turned on and your phone nearby to pair with. You cannot just use noise cancellation with no active phone. Of course I would like to use my bluetooth on my phone occasionally, but not every time I use these. I'm joining the rest of the world and buying the new Sony headphones. Bose is no longer what they were.
