This is dyed rice. Not real black rice. I posted some pictures for people to see the difference. 1. Dyed black rice is black to the core; real black rice only it’s surface is black, the inside is white. Black sesame seeds are like this too. 2. Real black rice becomes red when you add white venegar to it. Dyed rice doesn’t change color with white venegar. 3. Dyed black rice look perfectly black. It’s a dark dull black; real black rice has some red color in it too, it’s not perfect looking black. The supplier doesn’t even seem to use good quality white rice to dye. After several hours in white venegar, the dyed rice were all torn while the real black rice were still intact. I was curious enough to cook the dyed rice just to see how it looks. My way of cooking black rice is to add sweet rice and goji and make a rice congee. You can see from the pictures how the dyed rice congee looks different from the real one. The real one is such a beautiful deep purple almost black color. So many people gave great reviews of the fake rice. I felt obliged to write this review. Hope it helps.
