All you 1-stars reviewers - GROW UP!
These CDs are the Holy Grail.
This boxed set is worth every penny, and the mixes sound superb, once you get used to how far away they are from the extreme compression of 2009. I've never heard these mono mixes sound better, and they sound exactly like the originals from the 1960s. While the stereo boxed set mixes also sound much better than the 80s CDs, they have compression problems (listen to the cymbals on the stereo "Get Back" single on the remastered Past Masters disc). The Beatles masters from the 60s were compressed to the hilt; adding another compressor is only going to screw things up.
Owning high end equipment doesn't necessarily mean that you are listening with good ears. As an audio engineer, I couldn't believe the one-star reviewer who listed all of his high-end equipment and then said that these discs sounded terrible. They sound great, unless you're only familiar with music released after 2001.
And anyone who gives this boxed set one star because of amazon's packing doesn't get what these reviews are for. If this boxed set was shipped by amazon in a bubble pack, that's hardly a reflection on the content.
I put this in the "one star" review section just so you'd read it. Buy this boxed set. You need it desperately. Don't listen to the wackos who are complaining. It's worth every penny.
