I think I'm going to stop reading this genre. Forget about my pet peeve for grammar and editing. Since 50 Shades of Gray was a smash there has been a notable shift toward the idea that what a woman really wants is to be dominated. The longer I read this book the angrier it made me. She kept saying no, but she really meant yes. Isn't that the same justification that used to be used for rape? She was dressed a certain way so she was asking for it... A woman really wants it rough or to be restrained... A woman likes to be told what to do and have all decisions made for her... What I really want to read is more books like Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series or Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse. I used to enjoy the paranormal romance genre, a diversion from the more intense stories I more typically read. I think I'll be switching to space opera science fiction in the future. It will still satisfy fantasy, but there won't be the element of "alpha male" dominance.
