I was so excited when the Paperwhite was upgraded to 300 points that I ordered one immediately. Unfortunately for me, I never stopped to think that some of the features integral to the Kindle app would be missing in my new device. The big one is choice of background; I have Kindle programs on several devices, from a laptop, to a Kindle HD, an iPhone, and various Android phones. Every one of those offers the option of changing the background to sepia or black (my preference). The new Paperwhite does not. I don't know whether previous versions were the same and right now I'm too disgusted to do the research. Buyer beware!
