The so-called "upgraded new algorithm" version of this thermometer beeps and displays the result BEFORE it has warmed up to an accurate temperature. If you own this thermometer, you must reset it two or three times sequentially before you can get an accurate read, otherwise it reads up to a half degree below actual temperature on the first test. The thermometer hardware is decent (after about 60 seconds it is accurate), the but the ALGORITHM that triggers the result/beep is POOR and this thermometer should not be on the market in it's current form. I would not recommend this thermometer. If you own this thermometer, you can just push the power button 2 or 3 more times after the unit beeps and you will likely get a higher (and more accurate) temperature both times.
