It's primary use in my house is the kitchen floor - a constant battle of bits and pieces, crumbs, spills and messes. Secondary use is for tidying up the car mats from crunched leaves. It has worked great for what I needed it for. A little flap inside the drum holds the crumbs in from spilling out down the chute and back on the floor. It gets clogged with hair and bigger items that I probably asked too much of the vacuum to pick up in the first place. When you empty the drum, a pencil or chopstick will reach to clear debris from the flap. The weight is comfortable for me, and my 5 year old has been also using it a couple of years, it size and weight is kid friendly. I can't recall a complain with the suction at all. It lasted about two years, then battery started to fail. It still works, but it doesn't hold a charge for very long, maybe about a minute before it dies. If you flip the switch on again, it will power on again for less than 30 seconds. If you sweep a pile up first, you can still do super quick clean ups before it does. I've been milking it, thinking that I just needed to get around to ordering the battery. Now, almost another year has gone by of using it just for super quick jobs and I come to find out: THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT BATTERY FOR PURCHASE. SHAME on Black and Decker for NOT MAKING AN UPGRADEABLE PRODUCT AND INSTEAD MAKING A DISPOSABLE ONE. You can buy replaceable filters, but not a battery. When I buy a vacuum, I consider it an investment, not a disposable item. I definitely expected to get a lot more years out of this thing. Eventually I will be fetup with its short battery life, or it will just completely die on me and will look for a new hand vac from a different brand. I guess this will go in the recycle bin. Sorry Mother Earth. It is otherwise a very good little vacuum, but since the life is not extendable past the original battery, I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.
