My dog got sick immediately after using this shampoo
Almost immediately after bathing him with this new shampoo he got a fever and started smacking his lips really bad. He became lethargic and miserable. We knew something was obviously wrong. Then I noticed these ulcers in his mouth. I sent the pics to the vet and talked to them about the shampoo, and the consensus is that may be the culprit. I called Burt’s Bees to report the issue and see if they have had other such reports....waiting on a call back.
Doing a little more research I discover honeysuckle is in this shampoo and is toxic to dogs. I’m not sure why a company like Burt’s Bees would put honeysuckle in dog shampoo when it is toxic to dogs. It’s always possible that some soap residue can get into a dogs mouth when he’s being bathed, no matter how careful you are. We did not wash his face with the shampoo but some could have been on his feet and he could have licked it.
It’s been a week now and Sunny is still miserable. We just started him on a new medication for the ulcers in his mouth. 🤞🏻
