The End Is In Sight
As undoubtedly the most over-rated, over-hyped singer in history, it was not surprising that Miss Church would one day read too many of her own headlines and conclude that she was actually the next Barbra Streisand and attempt to do Streisand's material. That's exactly what happened here. Even one of Barbra's producer's was brought in to give it the appearance of being totally Barbra. However, what it turns out to be is a total nightmare. Charlotte Church has nowhere hear the technique, voice, or emotion to tackle the songs herein. The only thing close to acceptable here is the Irish ballad, Carrick Fergus. Whatever possessed the people involved in this album to think that Charlotte had the type of ability to cover the Broadway and Show tunes herein is a mystery to virtually everyone in the music world. Anyone taking the time to visit a listening post will recognize the echo-chamber laced edges to many of the songs. How much of what we hear from Charlotte is actually her real voice is as much as mystery as with Britney Spears. You can find most of this albums selections available as brilliantly performed originals on Columbia. My suggestion is that you check these out and leave what is here, here, right where it is, unopened and unheard. You will be better off.
