why I returned this DOA computer, rather than ask for a replacement first: I would like to thank amazon for the helpful way they handled the return of this DOA desktop, its the reason I like to purchase almost everything from Amazon. second: I received this desktop, connected it up to my display and nothing happened beyond the ASUS screen. Following the "call before" returning printout from ASUS, I called their tech support. After a few suggestions from them did not work, they offered to set up a warranty claim. I asked whether I should open the pc and check for a loose connection, a common problem with DOAs, they said no: it would violate the warranty. Now at least for me, the main reason for buying a desktop, rather than a laptop, is to be able to add components to improve performance. If I can't do that then I might as well buy a laptop. Another negative point, for those who are technically inclined, is that this model does not have a "disk activity light", so when it just sits there, you can't tell if its trying to recover or not.
