Unit overheated. Started smoldering and filled my office with this plastic/toxic smoke. Thankfully I was nearby and unplugged the unit from the wall and was able to get it outside. I used this unit often and the reason I chose this model was for the feature that says "Detects overheating for safety". Well they may want to check on that feature again. I feel fortunate that my house didnt burn down. When I contacted them the manufacturer their only response was that the unit was out of warranty...I didnt contact them for a warranty claim, I thought they might actually care that their product overheated and nearly caught fire...oh well...replaced it with a EBL 906 Smart Charger for AA AAA C D 9V Rechargeable Batteries with 4 Pieces 5000mAh C Rechargeable Batteries and so far it has worked well.
