I returned it.
I bought this book on Audible, so lucky it was an easy return for me after I couldn’t keep going a few chapters in. A few things to note:
1. Lots of fat-shaming. She references being overweight or “fat” as a plague in nearly every chapter & is constantly telling readers to stick to their diets already or their just chronic quilters! The rhetoric is outdated and lacking introspection and depth.
2. This is a religious book. I didn’t know that going in. Lots of talk about being a “good Christian girl”
3. The author comes across as extremely privileged and lacking a certain depth that would have made this book a lot more palpable and interesting.
4. The chapter headings “lies” are nothing you haven’t heard before a million times. All of the content is incredibly surface level. We’re not getting to the real heart of anything here.
