Let me preface this with an admission that I NEVER write product reviews bc I just don't have time... but the experience I had with this product leads me to want to share. I honestly really wanted to like this product. It is an awesome price for face cream, especially for face cream containing retinol. The texture of the cream is very thick and at 1st soothing. However, here is my experience........ On the day I applied the cream I saw two pimple like eruptions near my chin and mouth area approx. 4 hours after initial application. I disregarded them and believed I had my occasional pimple, like we all get from time to time. Well the next morning I woke up to, what appeared to be a face full of acne. I looked like an entirely different person. I don't have acne although I get your occasional pimple from time to time, but I now really sympathize with those who do suffer from acne! To have inflamed skin is very embarrassing and disfiguring. I don't wear foundation of powder, I only wear eye makeup... so with an acne like face I feel like I don't want to show my face to the world, although of course I have to keep up with daily life. Anyway, I digress... apologies... I soon realized what this was, was an allergic reaction to the cream as opposed to some really weird random latent acne. Although, I didn't realize it immediately, I continued use of the product that morning. However, by that evening on the second day of use.... I concluded that the pimples were actually sores and a direct result of the use of this cream. The sores seemed to be more akin to a rash than clogged pores. My face was EXTREMELY itchy and painful. The skin that did not have sores was also inflamed and tender. I discontinued use. The days that have followed have shown a diminished amount of sores, less pain and less itching however I still have the pimple like marks on my face three days after I discontinued use. After some Google research I found that retinol, especially "crude or synthesized retinol" can cause an adverse reaction in SOME individuals. If you purchase this product I advise you to sample it on a small portion of your skin before overall use..... LIKE DUH....I know right! I contacted Amazon and was able to return for a full refund (I LOVE AMAZON) but I think i will still try another one of the creams from this company... because like I said... i really wanted to like this product bc it is an awesome buy for the price. So i will update this review once I've had a chance to sample another cream from their line... wish me luck... and take caution when you use this retinol cream bc this is so ugly and painful!
