Blizzard--What Happened?!
For a game that I have been waiting over 10 years to buy, it almost physically pains me to have to rate it with 1 star, and really, I'd give it 0 if I could. First, let me say that I'm an avid SC player. I have been since the original game was released--I bought a copy when it was rated "M" because the rating system was brand new, and Blizzard wanted to get the game out on time without waiting for the rating board's decision. Good times. In many ways, SC2 is a great game, however, in several vitally important aspects, Blizzard has failed its fans. Until they make some needed changes, this game, in my mind, is broken--almost useless--and I cannot recommend it to anyone. 1. Online activation is fine, but c'mon, every 30 days we have to check back in? And if we're not online, we have to be a "guest" user on our own computers with our own game? And even better, any progress we do make cannot be synced to our online accounts. 2. NO LAN. Let me repeat that: NO LAN!!!! No Freaking LAN!!!! WTF!!!! That's right: NO FREAKING LAN!!!! <deep breath> 3. No Spawn. Big mistake, Blizzard. You have no idea how many of my friends went out and BOUGHT your games after playing them at LAN parties via the Spawn feature. 4. Everything is online. Your character, your maps, your data, everything. I don't like that at all. I was never a big battlenet player, so the online stuff is not that big of a deal for me. I don't need these "features." I want to play the campaign, once or twice, and then play the game with my friends. That's all. Don't force me to use a service I don't want. 5. Although this should not come as a surprise, since it's plastered all over the box, and Blizzard did announce it, it is disappointing that only ONE campaign is included for $60. Even if the other two campaigns sell for expansion prices of $20, that makes a single game cost $100. Simple extortion on the part of Blizzard. So, don't buy this fascist-ware. If you've already purchased it, like me, I'm sorry. Send it back, demand a refund. This is not the Blizzard we once knew and loved. The new Blizzard sees only the $$$$ on the faces of its fans. Pitiful. An extremely disappointed SC fan.
