Inconsistent quality. [Updated] Cannot recommend
[Update]: Truly disappointed. The pans are advertised as 'copper-bottomed', and through the photographs you are lead to believe that they actually have a sufficient amount of copper to influence cooking. Through an unfortunate incident my SO went through with one of the pans the copper on the bottom has literally flaked off (as others have noted in their photos). The design of this cookware is designed to mislead. And that is why I have changed my review to a single star. Their cooking performance is similar to any other stainless steel set, and for that the value is not bad. For their poor advertising practices and poor design, including simply plating the bottom (Mind you they plated areas that would *not* typically come into any contact with the cooking elements (coils, or glass tops, excluding gas), there is little danger of the consumer chipping the bottom away. My first set of cookware that includes copper has been a fairly good experience. If you are like me then learning to cook on stainless steel (instead of non-stick) will be worthwhile, and this set was a cheap introductory set. The main problem I have with it is that construction quality leaves me wanting. The copper layer on the bottom seems inconsistent from piece to piece. It ranges from ~4mm thick on one side of a pot to 2mm thick on the opposite side. I have no idea how this occurs. It makes me skeptical of the marketing behind this item. I'd like to see a cross-section of the cookware to confirm that it isn't just thickly plated copper. The other issue with quality is that the smaller pan came with a shard of metal jutting out from above the copper layer (See attached photo). While drying this pan off from its initial wash this piece caught and ripped the towel I was using, and upon inspection is desperately sharp. The pan has since been returned to T-Fal for a replacement, of which I had to fork over shipping to cover their manufacturing defect. Very disappointing. My final concern might be mostly ignorance, but the pans sometimes inexplicably turn yellow on the bottom (Also in the picture, the pan on the counter). Using some bar keeper's friend clears it up, but I can't seem to find any reason or cause online for this, and T-Fal didn't offer any insight into why this happens.
