First, let me say that I read all the five star reviews on this book and the praises about the BDSM represented inside, and I'm puzzled about all of it. First we have a heroin, Mia, who needs to act older than 12. And someone needs to realize that a girl can be in her 20's and a virgin, but that doesn't make her stupid or naive. If someone is naive, they most likely still have the brain power to realize when they keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Her impulsiveness had me laughing throughout the book and I don't believe it was intended to be funny. The BDSM scenes were nothing, and I'll only say here that you NEVER, ever do a BDSM scene without getting the express VERBAL approval of the sub, whether it is your sub or someone elses, or a stranger off the street. You never approach any participant in any scene as if they've consented before they know what's going on, especially not someone who couldn't figure out what BenWa Balls were (she must have been living under a rock, as I was sheltered but still knew what they were when I was 14 or so). I had a problem with the character Tara, who would send a young virgin to her bosses offices to display herself like a slut when she KNEW that Mia had no clue. That's no friend, that's an enemy and one to be mistrusted at every step. The Doms in the book were somewhat better, but I really have a problem with a book that condones those same Doms when they approach someone completely NOT consenting (in fact, during the first half of the book, the author has Mia thinking to herself that everyone participating in BDSM is mentally ill - so she'd CONSENT with no explanation from the Doms????). Sorry, the best I could do here is two stars and hopefully, if I decide to read another book in this series, it gets better.
