Disgusting. As soon as I opened the package I was hit with a very strong fish odor. The person who answers questions for this product keeps saying it's from the ocean. THAT IS NOT TRUE. The package clearly states: "We believe that the best Spirulina comes sustainable sources. That's why we insist our Spirulina is GROWN ON ORGANIC FARMS USING PURE, ALKALINE, UNDERGROUND SPRING WATER." (sic). (Yes, there is a grammar mistake in its mission statement) The package also states the following: "Voluntary Allergen Statement: Manufactured in a facility with equipment that handles eggs, wheat, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, soy beans, CRUSTACEANS, SHELLFISH, and FISH." Don't be fooled in thinking the fish smell is natural because of where it's sourced. It smells like fish because of the facility in which it is processed and/or possible contamination due to poor growing conditions. Quality Spirulina should not smell like fish. When blended (using the recommended serving) with a drink that is sweet, the drink loses sweetness. If taken with water or other unflavored beverage there is a slight fish taste especially if you burp. It should be blended, not hand stirred, in a warm liquid preferably. It will be clumpy in cold liquid. Someone who posted a 5-star lengthy review said it has an earthy aroma and no taste. That is an old review and it certainly isn't the case now. I would question the motives of that reviewer. For these reasons, I do not recommend this product.
