After an osteoporosis diagnosis, I was looking for a better calcium supplement. I chose New Chapter because of the glowing reviews. Right away I started suffering from nightly foot and leg cramps. After 2 months my back pain was still quite noticeable and then I started experiencing another side effect. My throat felt like it was tightening up while lying in bed at night, and when swallowing, it felt like I had a lump in it that would not go away. It took 24 hours after discontinuing the pills for the symptoms to disappear. I read that one of the side effects of Maltodextrim can be trouble breathing. I threw the remaining few pills away and returned an unopened bottle. This is exactly why it is important not to rave about a product until you have tested it for a while!
