I have had this product for about a year and I must now completely echo reviews like BubbaB's on 10/22/2017 and kTosTIUGA's on 6/17/2017: Exactly the same stuff happened to me, all the way to melted plastic and stripped terminals. Just like BubbaB's, using it with a trolling motor (at upper speeds) heated up the terminals. Then, some 6 months ago, just like KTos' the wing nuts stopped functioning and the connector just spun around inside the plastic. Finally, several times when I ran the motor at speed 5, it cut out and died after a few minutes - I could only run it at lower speeds. The last time this happened I smelled plastic and sure enough one of the wing nut terminals completely melted out of the case. Later I opened the electronics/wire compartment and all seemed fine except the main terminal connections were loosely screwed in from the inside, and of course all the melted plastic, now making the connections useless. I have no excess heat and no problems with the motor when run directly from the battery. As the others said - THIS IS A DANGEROUS PRODUCT - and can likely damage your trolling motor and/or cause a fire on the boat. I never had any use for all the gizmo connections, but would be afraid to plug my phone or anything else in for fear of damage after my experience with the main terminals.
