Think twice before buying
I really wanted to like this iron thinking it would save a little time in my salon. And to test the iron first before buying more to retail at my salon. Good idea how it wraps the hairs around the barrel for you to make life a little easier. Sorry to say I used it just 3 times and it no longer works. There is a learning curve on how to wrap it so it does not crimp the hair the wrong way at the end by the clamp. And not to burn yourself not your finger but the side of your face when you are curling around the face area. Remember the iron has your hair and it is pulling your hair around the barrel. You have to remember to let go of the switch that powers the motor while you are holding the iron or it will end up pulling the hot iron on to the side of your face before it's too late. It is like padding the top of your head with one hand the same time as you rub your stomach with the other. No problems after a few times but the first few times beware because it does get really hot. For our use the iron barrel should have been larger say 1 1/2" in to 2". For me the curl size was way too small. Funny the name of the products' name is beach waver it should have been called spiral waver. The look of the real beach waves are much larger curls/wave. With that said for what this iron cost alone it should have lasted more than a few months. No problem I thought! I have a warranty it's good for a year. So I called them only to find not only do I have to pay to have it shipped back to them but I also have to shell out another $15 to have it ship back to me total $22 plus tracking. I was also willing to deal with that. But now 2 weeks later I was told it will take 6 weeks or more to get it back. For the price it should be a quicker turn around than that. Just ship out another one out! I wish I would have waited until they worked the bugs out of it. The problem was it no longer power up. Sometimes it would turn on and sometime not. And when it did power up a few minutes later it would shut off by itself. So it is useless. Now the biggest thing to me is how it will dry out your hair. Think about it. You clamp the hot iron to the end of the hair. Which is the most damage and dry part of your hair. Then while it is heating the ends of the hair you have to think which button do I have to push the left or right one? Not to get the crimp going the wrong way. By the time you decide which is right. How long do you think the barrel has been frying your ends? If it is a spiral curl you are after you would be better off getting one of the curling stick with no clamps at all. Where you wrap your hair around the barrel. The healthiest part of your hair closer to the head first to the ends so the ends the driest part has the less amount of heating time. The health of your hair should always come first! I have also decided not to even think about retailing this item at my salon. I just can't afford to have them dry out my clients hair and also have my clients wait months for a replacement. So if you have lots of money to burn, and you just got to have the next new toy go for it! But be for warn. Good luck with yours!
