Leap Year on a budget
Two stars because I managed to finish it. But for those of you calling this a "good, clean, family" movie? You have no problem explaining homosexual rape at gunpoint to your kids? A woman prepared to seduce her sister's fiancé mere days before his wedding? A family who wants to decorate a church for a wedding by using a banner to cover up the apparently offensive portrait of Jesus over the altar...and they can only refer to Him as "that holy guy" as if they never heard of Him before? Multiple nude scenes with anatomical references that seem to be intended to be funny, but deeply aren't? Stealing from a man and driving away in his vehicle, leaving him locked out of his shelter, at night, in freezing conditions, presumably to die of exposure? OK. Your idea of good clean fun differs from mine, I guess.
Someone clearly has a twisted sense of what makes a lighthearted rom com. They evidently watched Leap Year, a vastly superior version of the exact same story line, thought they got what made that movie charming, slashed the budget by 90%, hired talentless actors and a hack screenwriter, and served up this tasteless side dish as a main course. Well, watch if you like the actors, or are laid up in bed with the remote out of reach; give it a pass if you hate characters that are underdeveloped and behave in stupid, thoughtless, and immoral ways.
