Beware of an extremely high lead level!
I have used Wellness cat food -- both canned and dry -- for many years, as I feel that it is a high quality product that helps keep my two cats healthy. About a year ago I switched my dry food to Grain Free, for several reasons, and recently bought a bag of Wellness Grain Free Indoor cat food for the first time and began using it. Coincidentally, however, shortly afterwards I read an article about an organization who has tested 900 of the most popular (best-selling) pet foods and treats. One of the startling findings was the presence of LEAD at 5,000 ppb (parts per billion) measured in Wellness Grain Free cat food, 55 TIMES the levels of lead in Flint, Michigan drinking water!! The Flint water crisis resulted in new guidance that pets shouldn't drink water containing levels above 150 ppb! Other Wellness products showed no lead at all. But because of this, I have thrown away my Wellness bag of kibbles and will not purchase any Wellness Grain Free dry food until I know the issue has been addressed. I am still confident in buying their canned cat food.
