★★☆☆☆
Tarnished & rusted during first washing.
This silverware set is beautiful. We marvel at it every time we pull the pieces out of the dishwasher - they're SUPER shiny and reflective. The weight in hand is substantial. The butter knives cut through sandwiches with no problem (a VERY big deal when you have littles who love eating PB&J sandwiches all the time). Overall, I was ready to give it five stars after its first use. I REALLY wanted to give this set 5 stars, and I would've - had the knives not tarnished and rusted the first time we ran them through the dishwasher. In the list of features, the last items states "dishwasher safe," as does the product packaging. But as you can see in the attached photos, at least 5 of the 12 knives either tarnished or rusted - more have tarnished, but I figured it'd be a little overkill to provide a photo of each one. Considering the non-sale price of well over $100, you'd think something of this quality/price would truly be dishwasher safe, or at least come with a "handwash only" warning. I even double checked the packaging and listing page to make sure I hadn't misread it. Thankfully, we got it on sale. But the sale price is still steep for something that tarnishes & rusts so easily. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that the overall quality is VERY good - enough to offset the downgrade for the rusting. Had rust not been an issue, I wouldn't have hesitated to give it 5-stars. We were hoping that this would be the last set we'd buy for a LONG time, and felt it would be when we first opened and used it... then that silly dishwasher got in the way.
