A significant part of any firewall router is if the owning company will update the software to deal with hackers and security exploits . TP-Link has not updated or offered a firmware update since I bought this unit 18 months ago. I am surprised this is so highly rated because from a security perspective this unit is terrible. I wish I could make this top comment so everyone would know they would be buying a significant problem. The tech support was atrocious as well. the call in to ask if they ever planned to upgrade the firmware was met with 2:30 of dead air (but I stayed on the line) then someone finally said "hello". They took all my contact info and then told me they could not help me with this model. At 6:00 I was transferred to tier two support (assumed). They again took all my contact information and then told me they could not help me with this model. Now onto tier 3 (assumed) who said it was midnight where they were so the engineers were not awake to answer the question (I was calling at 11am PST). This was all very disappointing and made me very angry. This router was supposed to be the cornerstone of my home network but it turned out to be a POS.
