A couple of years ago, I bought the original Rat Zapper Ultra when it was made by the original manufacturer, AgriZap. That one was absolutely fantastic and a workhorse killing machine. At some point, it looks like they sold out to Victor, and the product was modified. The original listed 30 kills per set of batteries, whereas this new one lists 60 kills per set of batteries. That kind of change in battery efficiency doesn't come out of nowhere. My theory is that they either limited the electrical current to a lower level, or they shortened the shock time. Whatever it was, it made this previously awesome trap into a piece of useless garbage. Rats have entered the trap, gotten shocked, grabbed the bait and took it with them. This has happened multiple times. I've heard the shock, so I know the trap is triggering. This matches up with the experience of several other reviewers. This trap in its current form is useless, and a waste of money. Look elsewhere.
