WARNING: LEAKS ARE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY!!! See video.
I have owned several Waterpik Ultras and love them and they have never leaked. I purchased this Aquarius and it leaks like a sieve, at the connection from the reservoir and the base. Not every time, but occasionally. A few nights a week. If I don't empty the reservoir after using it in the evening, I wake up to a huge puddle of water all over my counter top. See video. No amount of jiggling seems to have an effect, so it's not that the reservoir is not properly seated on the base. When I called their customer service line for a warranty replacement, they informed me that the reservoir must be emptied after every use, because THE UNIT IS NOT DESIGNED TO BE WATER-TIGHT at the connection between the reservoir and the base. ARE YOU KIDDING? This is truly incomprehensible to me, but it's a fact. The service rep said it was partly due to limitations on materials they use for the seal imposed by the FDA. In any event, he said they are not able to engineer a product that is guaranteed not to leak at the connection. They were kind enough to send me a replacement reservoir because the rep said that some units leak and others don't. For instance, his personal unit did not leak - but he was very familiar with the problem. Which they don't consider to be a problem. Well I got the replacement and it also leaks. I (barely) missed the 30-day Amazon return window, so I'm stuck with a leaky unit that needs to be emptied every night and re-filled each time it is used. The hinged top above the reservoir makes this even more cumbersome. I do still recommend the Waterpik Ultra as mine have never leaked. I strongly recommend AGAINST this Waterpik Aquarius. You might get lucky and receive a unit that doesn't leak -- but if you get a leaky unit, Waterpik is not going to replace it. The only solution I can think of is to break off the hinged lid (which serves no purpose anyway,) permanently glue the reservoir to the base, and keep the reservoir topped off with a water glass. Or chuck it in the trash. UPDATE 4/16: I used silicone sealant to permanently glue the reservoir onto the base of my unit. Now it doesn't leak, but I have to put the whole unit under my faucet to fill it up. It is UNCONSCIONABLE that they sell a unit that is not even intended to be water-tight, when their older model kept a water-right seal just fine. And the baloney about "we can't use those materials anymore due to health concerns" or whatever -- how do they suppose the K-cup coffee makers manage to have a water reservoir and never leak? I have three different models of these coffee makers, all with removable water reservoirs, and none of them have ever leaked. Sheesh.
