I purchased two of these, for both my front and back doors. Both doors are south-facing and in the sun the majority of the day. I have disabled everything on my ring doorbell (e.g. no motion recordings, no motion alerts, no video capture, etc.). Basically its just a smart doorbell to alert me if someone comes to the house and rings the bell. Best I can say is this device helps slow the rate of discharge. It will never charge a doorbell to a full charge, despite sitting in the sun for 12 hours a day. Sad to say, this is definitely not worth the $50 they charge. Hell, it isn't worth the cost of postage if they gave them away for free. I would return them within my prime return period, except the 30 day window has expired (we had a lot of rainy weather for a few weeks and I didn't want to pre-judge these as being ineffective, so I waited until we had a period of good sun to judge their performance... unfortunately, it meant I waited too long to return them. Shame on Ring for selling such a poor product. Shame on me for not reading and paying attention to the reviews.
