I wanted to love this show.
This was Sex in the City with Black women. The women were all immature, neurotic, and out of touch with reality. I find that sort of woman/child, can't cope with adult situations dysfunctional banter to be annoying. In the first two or three episodes, one young lady goes to Long Island to meet a man she met on a dating app and she LEAVES HER PURSE WITH HIM while she goes to the bathroom. I'm supposed to believe that a college professor, a woman with a PhD., can't deal with seeing her ex and she has to act like she's 12 years old in the process. The singer, who is a true artist and creative, she is someone I wanted to relate to, she seems oblivious to the fact that she can't be a leech on her friends without repercussions. The lesbian went through extraordinary lengths to not be broken up with from a woman she wanted to break up with. The Titanic engagement party . . . I don't even have words for that. I'm a bit older than these characters and I know that TV influences collective group behavior but I pray there aren't 30 something Black women out there being this stupid in real life. None of the women are women I would want to be friends with, none of them were really Black.
I think they took episodes and scenes that didn't make the cut for Sex and the City and just put Black actresses in the place of the white women.
