★☆☆☆☆
Completely implausible
It’s implausible throughout, but here’s the situation very near the end. Spoiler alert: if you read what follows, You may as well just read the last few pages. The heroine is sleeping with a man who successfully convinced her to voluntarily commit herself to a psychiatric facility and who stole nearly $9 million from her bank accounts. She has no idea what kind of rap sheet he has, and she knows it’s likely that he’s trying to poison her, but she persists in trying to solve the crime herself rather than going to the police. Oh, and did I tell you she actually goes home one night with a gun and he pushes her and SURPRISE—she drops the gun. Perhaps I deserve it for selecting it as a free book after being unable to find any literary reviews for a book by an “award winning” author.
