Treat this as Disposable and AVOID Garmin Customer Service
Solid enough while it worked. But treat this as disposable as it stopped working after 5 months and customer support is impossible to reach - worse than no service at all. This is my third Garmin (Forerunner, Vivo) and 10th+ fitness tracker (including Jawbone, Withings, Apple, etc.). I purchased the new v4 just days after it was released, and was excited that it fit my needs perfectly, i.e. to supplement other devices - basic with slim profile, long battery life, and sleep tracking. (Bigger devices with more features fall down on sleep tracking if they're too big to wear to bed, and/or HR monitoring blinks all night, or you have to charge them every few days...) All was well until the device stopped pairing after 5 months of use. Which isn't the end of the world, except you need to pair to sync your current time and the device started to lose time pretty quickly. And that's when the trouble began... Like many companies these days, Garmin tries to triage customer support through basic online FAQs and auto-response case tools... Which I tried, to no avail. After a week of back and forth via their online case tool, Garmin online support finally conceded I'd need to call Garmin Product Support for additional assistance, and provided their top secret phone number. (See if you can find it on their website or in any of their apps. You cannot...) I tried daily for three days, at various times of the day; the hold times offered (to speak with the next available agent) ranged from 42 minutes to "more than an hour." So support is grossly understaffed, CSRs presumably overworked, and no resolution time targets they're willing to publish. After my third attempt I discovered an option to schedule a callback. So I scheduled the callback, waited another day, and was happy to receive said callback exactly on time... However the callback put me immediately on hold, and I'm *still* holding as I write this review... More than 10 minutes later! I'm disinclined to waste any more of my time waiting for them to help. Into the bin for the Vivo4, Garmin appears to be following in Jawbone's footsteps...
