You may be hearing the hype around Seasonic making the absolute best PSUs. That was me- I was there too. I bought two of these puppies- one for a gaming machine and one for a home server PC. I had no problems and I was really enjoying the product until one morning, I tried to power on my gaming PC with no luck... After swapping in a spare PSU that I had (not a Seasonic one, just for the record) the PC turned on without issue. So after a year and a half of faithful service, the PSU just died. No problem I thought- I'll just RMA the Seasonic PSU. It has an advertised quite bold 12 year warranty! Not so fast- the RMA process isn't difficult, but it isn't easy. Not only that, Seasonic no longer offers Advanced RMA, so you have to ship your PSU back to them, AT YOUR EXPENSE. They will not pay for shipping to get the product to them. I paid to ship the PSU to them and waited patiently. Eventually, a replacement PSU arrives at my door, and I put it in the computer. It booted without issue, but after firing up a game, within 30 minutes my computer would simply power-off and back on again. What??? I was able to recreate this behavior several times. Not sure if the new PSU was broken, I ran out and bought a new 1000w replacement PSU (not Seasonic) and put it in the computer. I have not had my computer kill itself since. This strongly suggests that the PSU they sent me as a replacement is not working as advertised, but the worst part? Seasonic support tells me that my only recourse is to go through the RMA process AGAIN, and they won't pay to have the defective PSU returned to them! Wow! Now I have to spend more of my time and money just to get a working PSU? You have got to be kidding me. So in the future, Seasonic will not have my business. They may advertise a hefty 12 year warranty, but it isn't going to be pleasurable. They aren't going to make it easy. You are going to have to pay for return shipping EVERY TIME, and you MAYBE will get a working replacement. Hard pass in the future, Seasonic.
