Didn’t work
I purchased this book and also her Goodbye Autoimmune book. I also watched her classes on YouTube that she opens up every so often and allows people to watch for free. The message was great! I basically became a member of the cult. I joined the free Facebook page. I did the diet. I recommended it to other people. Unfortunately it’s been over two years and I didn’t heal my autoimmune disease. I also didn’t lose any weight. I am not overweight, but I’m also not “shredded” as the Facebook group indicates. To add insult to injury, I was “excommunicated” from the cult. I was blocked from the Facebook group without any kind of warning or indication as to why. Now what? I have been eating this way for so long now that I don’t even know what to do. I will say that when you stick to the eating plan you do feel satiated and you don’t crave foods. I believe because you are getting all of the nutrition that you need. Cheating was mostly because of social pressures or time constraints. I think it was probably her husband or another admin who blocked me because Brooke is a sweetheart and her husband does not come across as a sweetheart, but the opposite.
I see a lot of reviewers are complaining about the lack of information in the books. I agree. You can get a lot of the info in the FB group. That’s where I got it. But if you pay thousands of dollars and work with Dr. Goldner directly then you can get the really real information on how to heal yourself.
The eating program is basically
1. Eat or drink at least 1-2 pounds of cruciferous veggies or spinach per day. Fresh, raw, not cooked or frozen or dehydrated.
2. Take in omega 3 fats through flax seeds, flax oil, or chia seeds. Aim for at least 1/4 cup of seeds or 3 Tbsp. oil per day. Some people are taking as much as 1/2 cup to 1 cup of seeds per day for maximum healing!
3. You can take in a maximum of 3 cups or 12 oz. of fruit per day (not dried fruit). The recommendations change all the time. At one time it was 3 cups max. Then it was 12 oz. max. Then I think it was back to 3 cups max. Fruit is not required, but is only for flavoring in your smoothies.
4. Get in enough iodized salt to get your iodine for the day. (1/4 tsp. to 1 tsp.) Hashimoto’s patients take in 300 mg iodine per day. It’s important to offset the cruciferous vegetables goitrogenic effect.
5. You can have small amounts of almond milk in your chia pudding or coffee. Make sure it’s unsweetened.
6. You can have spices and flavorings, including cocoa, vanilla, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, etc.
7. You may not have sweeteners, including honey, stevia, xylitol, monk fruit or any of the artificial sweeteners.
8. You may not have any other foods while you are trying to heal, including animal foods, grains, beans, nuts, seeds, except for the flax and chia seeds.
9. You should drink a minimum of 1 gallon of filtered water per day. Unless you weigh less than 128 pounds. In which case, say you weigh 120 pounds, then you should drink 120 oz. of water per day.
10. You may have 1 cup of coffee per day, but only a splash of almond milk added to it and no other creamers or sweeteners.
11. You can have flax crackers as long as they are raw, vegan and don’t have any of the ingredients that you are not allowed to have. They don’t count towards your flax intake for the day, but can help you with your bread or chip cravings.
12. Everything in the program needs to be raw. Not cooked.
There are other things that should be done too, besides the diet. Exercise every day. Do self care every day. Having a positive outlook on life. Probably other super secret stuff that I was not privy to.
Good luck to you all. <3
