We have owned 5 of these machines. Yes, FIVE. The first one we purchased (in 2012) lasted for around 3 years. The knob started to be very finicky and the sound would randomly shut off with out being touched. Cool. 3 years is an awesome run for a $20 machine. So we purchased another one (Jan 2015) and a second one (May 2015) a few months later (for our second child), those two machines both died last week. When you turned the knob, the power light would come on, but no sound at all. So, this week, I ordered two more machines (I know, why would I?? But our kids don't sleep without them). I received them on Tuesday, and one of them died yesterday (Friday)! Same way the previous two did: no noise with the power light on. I think the parts, or construction of these has changed substantially in the past few years, and definitely not for the better. Very disappointed in the product. It is great sound, the ocean is our favorite; but the actual machine is extremely poor quality.
