Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I got this book for free yesterday and read 15 minutes of it last night before I stopped. It didn't seem overly well written (rather in the style of then this happened, then this happened, then this happened with little feelings expressed by the characters). It also flips back-and-forth between the past and the present, but it's so clearly broken down with what time frame you're in with the page breaks and also the years noted. Within my 15 minutes of reading, I got to enjoy sodomy of a child, a broomstick being used to violate an adult male, an adult male being whipped, then hung up by his ankles and major veins cut, the "hero" being shot and when his teeth were being pulled, I just stopped reading at that point. Just too much ick for me with a badly written style. I rarely give writers just one star (I usually do at least 2), but this book had so many positive reviews (which I don't understand), that I wanted to at least try to warn people that this may be too violent for some readers.
