First of all, just an 8nstallment. Classic “first one’s free” then the rest are pricey and probably not complete books either. This one is just a lead-in for the next installment, it doesn’t end. It leaves the heroine with a gun ather neck. Moreover, the basic premise is absurd. The federal government doesn’t put people in witness protection to protect children who were victims of abuse in state foster care. The protagonist Is an unlikely magnet for trouble. Unless something develops later to indicate that there’s something more than an abusive foster home, it’s ridiculous that she would be the focus of so much attention. I didn’t care enough to find out.
