Cannot import designs from PC. IN 2013!
I love Brother products. I have 2 embroidery machines from Brother and they are TOP quality. Which is why I am so absolutely MAD.
This product's selling point is that it doesn't have to have a PC to work. Just scan N go!
Well what if you WANT to use a PC? TOO BAD. It doesn't give us this ability! (yet)
I don't want to have to print and scan every single design that I want cut out. That's just silly. I appreciate that as an added feature...but as the only option? What a waste of paper and TIME. My first instinct was to buy the Cameo. I'll be taking this Scan N Cut back to my dealer and going with my gut instinct.
Brother, please remember in the future that while it's great to appeal to new crafters it's ALSO GREAT to appeal to advanced crafters that need to save time.
Update:
I see that I have ticked off a few people by my review. Let me specify why I am completely disappointed.
This product is ALL OVER promoting it's ability to cut fabric to save time in appliques. My main business is embroidery. I have invested tens of thousands of dollars in Brother embroidery machines because they are top of the line. When I saw that this machine would cut appliques and 'save time for embroiderers' I assumed that I could take an embroidery file...pull it over to the ScanNCut....cut out the applique design...then WAAALAAHH....perfectly cut applique with same dimensions of the embroidery file.
Ok, Ok, Ok....maybe my assumption that .pes files would be acceptable was too much.
Well that's alright. I'll just save this applique design I digitized as a .jpg and pull it over like that. Oh...Ok. doesn't accept .jpg's. Well ok...everyone is talking about .svg cuts. I'll save this applique design as an .svg then pull it over. It'll take tons longer and might manipulate the size but I'll work through that. Oh. Can't do that either.
The problem with 'PRINT IT OUT AND SCAN IT' is that printing out an embroidery design or applique outline DOES NOT SCAN IN without having to remove a crap ton of extra trash on that NOT LARGE AT ALL LCD screen. I quit after 45 minutes of attempting it and I'm quite computer literate.
Too much trouble. This product was catered towards the business I'm in but it's just ridiculous the amount of crap I'm supposed to go through to try and make this work for me.
Not to mention....How long are we gonna hear about Brother's INTENT to start a cloud based editing program?
This is all so ridiculous. I find it hard to believe that Brother worked with 'tons of crafters' and NOBODY brought up the fact that computer connectivity is a MUST for any serious cutter? Seriously?
