We Don't Recommend This Camera
THE GOOD: The quality of this camera seems pretty good. It can easily be pointed from your phone, using their app. Both sound an video are acceptable.
THE BAD: At present, there is no way to access camera output on your computer. Only the phone app has that capability. Although advertised as using only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, it doesn't prepare you for the fact that it limits you to using 2.4 GHz for your phone. We tried 5GHz on the phone, and while it worked for a while, we lost the connection to both cameras in less than a day.
THE UGLY: You can place MicroSD cards in these cameras, but there is no way to access their content via Wi-Fi. The whole idea behind these cameras is to tie you to their cloud services for any meaningful use of what the camera records. This leads to a particularly problematic situation for anyone who values their privacy. We selected these cameras because we will not use Amazon's Ring cameras due to their willingness to share camera output with government agencies, but without the consent of the camera's owners. Surprise! These cameras use Amazon Web Services (amazonaws.com) for their network. And here comes the problem, the cameras access nvts.co whose registered owner and location is:
Registrant Organization: NETVIEW TECHNOLOGIES CO. LTD.
Registrant State/Province: Guangdong
Registrant Country: CN.
So, do you really want devices that have video and audio recording capability, from inside your home or office to be accessed by China?
