So, I purchased this for our 13 year old dog who is going through bed rest due to a muscle injury. It does cool like it says, and he loves laying on it. It has been here a couple of weeks and it has multiple tears in it. No other dog lays on it and he hardly moves. His nails are kept trimmed. So just from him getting up to get a drink, eat and go outside for bathroom breaks. There isnt much movement that takes place on this mat that warrants this kind of damage. The outer covering is simply, cheap and not dog friendly at all. I figure at this rate, with the other side still in tact, we might get about 6 weeks of use out of this. And that is ridiculous for how much it costs and the fact that it is being used for an old, invalid dog. I wish companies would actually read these reviews and respond. I would not purchase this again and definitely not for an outdoor dog or an active dog. I feel ripped off.
