I dont usually do this but i am taking the time to write this review to expose how Google wants to take over our lives! First, i am a computer engineer and a CCNA CCNP MCP MCSE MCSA A+ NETWORK+, ex college professor and holder of many other certifications and awards. This is not about me, just trying to prove that i'm not your average user. After the last few updates that Google pushed overnight, WITHOUT my consent, we have noticed that speed started going down dramatically. I have a large house and 7 of these spread out. After troubleshooting all devices, moving things around, resetting the network, replacing the main device, i decided to call their support line and report an issue with internet speed. After all, I have a stellar FiOS connection, nothing is wrong with my fiber cable and you can get full bandwidth when connected to the Fios modem/router as well as when you run a speedtest within the Google Home app (the option that tests the connection between the mesh network and the Fios modem). No issues there. After spending countless hours with tech support, their only solution was to set the Fios modem to bridge so that Google can take over my home network from A to Z. Needless to say that they'll be able to monitor my online activity. I have nothing to hide, i honestly dont care if they do, but the main question is why?! Why force all users after having invested close to $1000 in a mesh network, lower the speed limit to force you to channel your internet activity through them? It worked fine for 3 years without any problems. In my other homes as well as 2 offices, i have Fios paired with Deco, Asus and other system, they all work perfectly fine. No issues, no speed limits, no BS. I bought a new Deco system to replace this garbage product and the difference is insane! No issues, no interference, no down time. Nothing. Some of you might wonder what if my google mesh devices are 3 years old and it was time for a change, well the first thing that I did was purchase a brand new set of Google Mesh devices, installed them in the exact same locations, and i was faced with the exact same problem. My advice to you is to stay away from Google Wifi and go with anything else.
