Great, except for the whole price gouging thing
As many others, I was hooked on Osmo when someone in the mall gave me a kit to try. The way they integrate screen time with real, tactile play is ingenious.
But here's the problem I have. Their prices had been reasonable. But during the pandemic they suddenly raised all their prices beyond the point where an average family could afford them.
Their Starter Kits ballooned to $200-230, . Kits that had sold for around $30 (which was reasonable) were now $50 each. They created new apps and sold them for $25 (who sells an app for $25?). And most recently they released these new "Math Wizard" kits at $60 each, when it's clear that the manufacturing costs don't come close to that.
Now I don't begrudge them for making a profit, but I would have hoped that they'd have demonstrated a little humanity at a time when so many families are suffering. Ironically, a lower price point would enable them to sell a lot more units, which would improve word of mouth advertising and result in far greater profits. But it sounds like either they or their investors just want to squeeze as much money as they can out of the few who can afford it.
Rather than gouging their loyal and influential customer base and treating us like walking, talking ATMs, they should be incentivizing us to complete our collections. As it stands now, as much as I love these games, I can't see myself dropping hundreds of dollars more to supplement a system I've already invested hundreds of dollars in already.
