Different from the previous books. The narrative voice feels different, not as sure and cocky. The only supporting characters from the early books are Jake and Cosmos. Jake is now different. He now likes violence for it’s own sake rather than to support a mission. And does not seem to always be prepared, does not have friends/contacts all over the world eager to help, or able to act without instructions. Ant the con crew is gone despite their usefulness. Kate now, despite being a former SEAL, has to be rescued in a flood by Nick. Huh? Nick now feels swarmy and more of a common thief than the best thief/conman in the world. And for some unknown reason Kate and Nick can now fly together commercial and have to worry about official expenses. Someone who had read the prior books really really should have edited this. I am getting a refund and will not buy another, not that I think there will be any more after this one.
