We had a small flare-up in our fireplace. Apparently, one of the pieces of wood we put in was something that burned really hot. Smoke started rolling out and the paint on the front of the fireplace actually caught on fire. I ran to my trusty fire extinguisher can and let loose. I used the whole can on this small fireplace fire. Fire was still going. I grabbed the second can (it was a two pack) and used that whole can too and the fire still wasn't out. I poured a couple bottles of water on the fire and that did the trick. The weak little stream these things put out don't really do much. The fire continues to rage everywhere this tiny stream doesn't hit directly. I expected a much wider spray pattern.
