Square hole "Guidance" is not correct
Okay folks, If you are like me, I read the 5 star reviews & thought "What a great idea, easier, cheaper than replacing the hinges!" Not so fast! Blum has redesigned their full overlay hinges and these only work with the "new" design hinges. How to tell, not easy - look at the cup (the part that insets into the cabinet door) - the newer hinges have a full circle (half circle embossed into the raised (screw) portion of the cup. See pics of my "Old Design" hinge - no circle embossed onto the cup. What is different is that inside the square hole, on the interior backside there is a raised obstruction (a mount for the aft adjustment screw on the hinge assembly) - this internal obstruction just inside the aft portion of the square hole keeps the little hooks on the attaching clip from seating. Now what is even more maddening - simply turn the clip around where plunger facing aft (wrong way) - it snaps in like a charm. As we say in the Navy, Blum had a 50/50 of not flubbing it up (we sometimes use another word for flubbing) and guess what - their engineers flubbed it up. Had they simply inverted the design of their attachment base (reversed the hook/press spring and yes it holds very well despite hooks facing forward) - it would have worked for all of the square hole hinges they make/made - not just the new style. So 5 stars on the quality of manufacturing, zero stars for the idiot Blum engineers, and 1.5 stars for the seller not giving good guidance (not all square holes are the same). Averages out to 2 stars. Okay pack it up and send it back to Amazon and hopefully a couple of you will flag this review as helpful so it will work it way up to the top of the stack so future purchasers don't make the same mistake I did thinking all square holes are the same.
