If you already own a Green Star, don't upgrade to the Elite model
I am writing this review to share my story about my experience with Green Star juicers. My wife and I have been routinely making about 2 gallons of vegetable juice per week for the last 6 years (we made other things such as almond butter, coconut cream etc etc). We have used the Le'Equip model for the first several months and then switching to Green Star Gold when learning of the nutrition benefits. We were happy with the Gold model until about a year ago, a friend of ours was inspired to start juicing, intrigued by the new Elite model claims we sold him our Gold model and forked out the cash for the new version. After using the Elite model for the past 9 months, I have been disappointed enough to write my first negative review. The Elite routinely shuts down when running vegetables or warmed coconut meat through, we taped a wad of paper on the safety cut out so it would continue to work. The pulp is often much wetter than the Gold model, which is hard to understand because the Elite advertises how you get so much more juice. Thats not all, the juicing knob has been redesigned to be weeker, as they swapped out metal parts for plastic ones, and we have replaced that twice so far due to it cracking and leaving us stranded with piles of vegetables waiting to be juiced. And last but certainly not least, they claim it is so much easier to clean, and that is the biggest bunch of bulloney, I spent way to long cleaning up the juicer after making almond butter, normally a 10 minute job with the Gold model suddenly a 25 minute job with the annoying safety clamps dangling and getting in the way. Please read this carefully, and I would advise everyone to save their precious pennies and buy the more durable long lasting Green Star Gold model, you will be so much happier, with peace of mind knowing that engineers weren't told to cut costs to save a buck!! 8/2014 Update: Basically the plastic parts on this machine cracked to bits. Thankfully to Tribest, they did send replacement parts. I took about 3 hours to fully disassemble and rebuild. I suggest if you are not mechanically inclined to find someone who is and have them fix it for you. I think of myself to be "mechanically inclined" so as I was working on this I thought of all the people who might struggle at the attempt. However if you can go 2 or 3 weeks without your juice, you can pay to ship it to Tribest and they will fix it for you. After having completed this project, I am more confident, that the next time it fails, at least I have purchased from a company who will give me free replacement parts.
