★★☆☆☆
neat idea, but not super effective or worth the price
I wanted to like these so much. My brother has a pair of Bose QC35s which are great but I thought these might be better..... I was wrong. First off - 1 star off for Comfort. They have the comfort of earbuds, with the size and bulk of over-ear headphones. It took about a day or two for me to get used to them so they didn't hurt after a while, but they still feel weird. After getting used to them they don't really feel uncomfortable anymore (until you compare them with any other over-ear headphones). second- 1 star off for bluetooth connectivity. There are no features in the headphones or app to make switching devices any easier. So if I have them connected to my phone and I want to switch to my computer i have to go into the bluetooth settings on my phone to disconnect them, then go into the bluetooth settings on my computer to connect them. This is fairly annoying especially since most other headphones in this price range have settings to make this process a lot easier. My brothers Bose have a switch on them that cycles between the devices that you have connected to in the past, once you get the one you want the headphones automatically switch to the new device, which is super convenient. third- 1 star off for lack of 3.5mm audio cable. This is super frustrating given that the headphones cost $400 dollars but you have to buy this cable separately from the nuraphones website for an additional $20 plus shipping! They have a proprietary plug in the headphones so you can't use any cable but their own!! for $400 they should ship with this cable like virtually every other pair of headphones in this price range, this is just greedy. In terms of audio quality, the headphones with your sound profile sound pretty good. I liked the bose better given that the nuraphones seemed to lower the midtones and raise the hightones for me more than I would like (it made some songs sound a little 1 dimensional), but the difference was slight. The "generic" mode on the nuraphones however is terrible. Music sounds washed out like there was a wall between you and the speaker that is dampening the sound. The headphones that came with my phone are better than the generic mode, but thats not really a huge problem given that you don't buy these headphones unless you want to use the audio profile that it sets up for you. I think I'm going to return these and buy a pair of Bose (which are $50 cheaper and have active noise cancelation)
